Evaluation - part 7

7) Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full magazine?

The media industry is hard hard to dominate and at first I was not a creative person and I did not understand the different ways in which technologies work. In the preliminary task I was unfamiliar with Photoshop and what it could do so I used power point and I didn't really edit it. However, now I have more knowledge about the media conventions and the 'WTS,' magazine seemed unprofessional because it was a little busy and even though I had a main image it was a little confusing about whether it would be about the school or its student. I learned from this and I  have only used one image and that is of M.I.A.

Before I created my final piece for the magazine I used the influence of other magazines in my case study that include Heat, Cosmopolitan and Maxim to draw ideas from for my design and the language and colour scheme that I should use. This is useful because that and Photoshop were an immense help and made the task less stressful for me because it was a quick and efficient way to make my magazine.

Evaluation - part 6

6) What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

To create my magazine I had to teach myself different ways of design and how to use Photoshop, of which I knew very little about. Also to create my font I had used 1001fonts.com and picked out designs:

Photoshop played an instrumental role in the creation of the magazine because this is where I could put all my photographs and ideas together are and make sure that the design goes well together. Although it took a while to master I have developed my skills at Photoshop well.

There were obstacles in the making of the double page spread because it initially wanted to make it in the style of an interview but that wasn't sophisticated enough or similar to many popular magazines so I put the writing in columns and a white box to keep it equal.
From this style ...

Evaluation part 5

5.    How did you attract/address your audience?

One way I attracted the audience was with the font. This is because the font makes the words flow and is youthful. Also the colour of the writing is feminine and on the double page spread the I have chosen to make the background blue. This is because although it is a good thing to be consistent and if everything was pink or purple would be seen as overdoing it because it is too much. I have however, compromised to make the writing dark purple.

Evaluation - Part 4

4) Who would be the audience for your magazine?

The target audience is for females and males aged from 15-25. This is because the youth in society are the dominant figures in consuming media whether it be TV, magazines, music and social media. Social media is essential because it is a way of connecting with people not just nationally but also internationally and the connection is instant and this can help the magazines publicity.

Another reason why teenagers have been the target audience is because that is where pop music is at its peak with celebrities like Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez etc being the main attraction of the magazine:

The demographic of this magazine are C2, the skilled manual workers. This is highlighted in the double page spread because there are some in formalities where I sometimes do not use capital letters and also The page is in the style of an interview. I have done this because informal language is used when people are comfortable with each other and the magazine does this because it can create a familiar tone with the audience.

Evaluation part 3

3.What kind of media institution might distribute your magazine and why?

The media institution that would most likely be the magazines distributor is Bauer. This is because this company  has many different successful brands of magazine that
have become popular with the media in general . The company's reach
is worldwide as it stretches over 15 countries and more than 300 issues.

Also because they not only have magazine brands they also can get more customers through their TV connections and radio channels so the target audiences could listen to what is the latest news that is occurring in relevance to what the magazine is about.

Below are the different names of magazine brands that work with Bauer.:

The fact that they would publish Empire tells us that they not only focus on music but also films and this is further evidence as to why they would distribute my magazine, because my includes a variety of things.

Evaluation part 2

2. How does your magazine represent a particular social group?

The target audience for my magazine  will be males and females but with the close up of M.I.A  and include fashion it will be more specifically for females . The youth are usually the dominant groups to buy magazine that are about fashion and music and so I have used these to attract that sector of the audience and also because they are the ones that are the ones that enjoy going on social media websites and so they can spread news about the magazine not only national but also international which would rise its popularity if I were planning on distributing it around the world.

Another way this magazine represents a particular social group is the style in which the cover has been laid out. This is because the colour layout gives the magazine a youth feel and  the purple and pink are symbolic when it came to the female audience.
